Sunday 3rd April

Seminar and Training Day

We were pleased to welcome Mrs Gael Stenton (Gaesten) to speak at our seminar. Gael was a Founder Committee member of the ISCGB and one of the small group of breeders/exhibitors who pioneered the breed in the UK. The first Gaesten litter was bred in 1985 and Gael has a long history of success with her Spinoni in both the show ring and in field work. Gael has imported many dogs from Italy where, in 1992, she became the first non-Italian judge in the history of the breed to judge Spinone. Gael has judged the breed in Ireland, America and Canada and, of course, at Crufts in 1993 and championship shows throughout the UK.

Gael has written numerous articles about Spinone history, conformation, judging, genetics and health problems and spoke on the history of the breed and its development in the UK.

In the afternoon our working tests took place outside in the sunshine. An excellent turnout of Spinoni and their owners took part with several young pups making the most of their day out. A big thank you to everyone who came along and joined in the day's events.

Sunday 4th December

Members' Christmas Party

Our biggest attendance to date - 80 people and 40 dogs who all seemed to enjoy themselves, joining in the various games including musical sits and a sausage retrieve which were organised with the usual precision by our Chairman, Lynne Luff. The fancy dress competition produced very patient Spinone wearing a variety of inventive costumes and Father Christmas called by to give all the children and dogs a gift. Full report in the spring newsletter.

Musical sits and two of the fancy dress entries - Holly and Ivy and an Angel
